The flat fee recruitment secret to cutting your costs in 2012

BY MARK WILKINSON

In more challenging times every recruiter wants to achieve the magic mix of attracting the very best candidates whilst keeping their recruitment costs at a minimum. However it's not always easy to achieve!

In recent years there have been a lot of innovations in the recruitment industry surrounding flat fee recruitment models and the'explosion of'internet job boards which has made that task significantly easier.

Here are two factors to consider if you want to achieve it:

1. Don't think small when you can think big

When it comes to cutting your recruitment costs, it is tempting to focus on the detail ' to the detriment of the bigger organisational picture.

Instead, look at how well your recruitment process fits with your overall business development strategy. How well are they actually aligned? Does your recruitment pipeline feed directly into the strategy for your business? If not, look at ways to draw these closer together to create a more productive and cost effective recruitment approach.

2. Don't overlook the power of a mix up

Have you ever considered the power of a hybrid approach to recruitment ' where you combine in-house resource with professional external expertise? If not, you could be missing out on an opportunity to reduce your overall recruitment costs and bring the right calibre of candidate into your organisation.
